  •   With this solution I can directly connect antennas with SO-239 and have exact calibration at the output of the SO connector.
When you calibrate the NanoVNA with the supplied cable and you put the loads (open-closed-50 ohm) you have calibrated the instrument. Then you have to put a reducer to connect the antenna cable, in my case I have RG213 drops with UHF PL-259 female connector. Before connecting the antenna cable, the NanoVNA changes the calibration as soon as the reducer is inserted. In this way I have calibrated antenna analyzer with all the reducer and thus I get exact measurement of the cable and antenna.
 



 


Installed and fully functional for NanoVNA another management sw "AntScope2 ver.1.1.1". Ability to see the results even offline. 




 

Tested with my NanoVNA as a spectrum analyzer. The tests were done with a WSPR signal generator at the frequency of 14095 Khz and on two frequencies at 400600 Khz and 432500 Khz. It works, great for finding nuisance signals. 😕

Hello Giuseppe,
I didn't understood the purpose of the adapter used in that way.
If you want to include the adapter in the calibration path, you should use a commercial SMA male to SO239 female and use SO239 cal elements (short/open/load). Only in this way the load is seen AFTER the transition.

In the way that you proposed, the VNA sees the transition a small "open stub" and it may influence the calibration.

In my experience, if you use a commercial transition instead of home-made , the calibration doesn't change too much, especially in 0-30MHz.

ok Alfredo, I did this only because when I put the male PL connectors with the reductions, I never have the precise calibration at the beginning of the measurement, instead I gauge the NanoVNA with the female PL and it is precise with the triangle all the way to the right, then I put antenna and it works for me! Often the theory does not correspond to the practice, personal opinion.
